Manama: Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, announced the launch of Youth City 2030, aligning with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and directives from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The initiative underscores Bahrain's dedication to empowering young people and recognising their vital role in national development.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Minister praised His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the King's Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, for spearheading initiatives that enhance youth skills and sector contributions. She highlighted His Highness's belief in the leadership potential of young people.

The 14th edition of Youth City 2030 is set to commence on July 13 at Exhibition World Bahrain, organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs in partnership with the Labour Fund (Tamkeen). This year's edition focuses on increased youth participation and quality training to better prepare them for the labour market.

Minister Tawfiqi emphasized the strong partnership between the Ministry and Tamkeen, highlighting their shared commitment to investing in national talent. The collaboration has led to the development of advanced programmes that empower youth as a key element of sustainable development.

This edition will introduce 195 specialised training programmes across five centres: Science and Technology, Arts and Culture, Leadership and Entrepreneurship, Media and Entertainment, and Sports and Health. A total of 5,500 training opportunities will be available, with 84 youth-led projects showcased for visitors and participants.

A significant feature of this year's edition is the integration of artificial intelligence in over 70% of the training programmes, aligning with global trends and preparing youth for the future of work. The Ministry, in collaboration with the Skills Bahrain initiative under Tamkeen, has formed a joint team to design market-relevant training programmes.

Additionally, a talent committee has been established to scientifically evaluate participants and identify promising skills. The new programmes will also address youth mental health, reflecting the Ministry's commitment to supporting both professional and personal well-being, and aiding youth in building a balanced and successful future.
