Manama: The Equal Opportunities Committees of the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives held a session on the occasion of the International Day of Parliamentarism, focusing on gender balance in parliamentary work in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the session highlighted Bahrain's legislative efforts and achievements in promoting women's empowerment. These efforts are guided by the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and supported by the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The Supreme Council for Women, led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King, also plays a significant role in these initiatives.
Presentations during the session covered the principles of the Beijing Declaration and Bahrain's progress in eliminating discrimination and supporting women's participation across economic, social, and political domains. These efforts align with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals, underscoring the country's commitment to gender equality.
The session further emphasized Bahrain's dedication to women's rights through constitutional and legal measures. It highlighted the country's role as a model for national consensus on the importance of women's contributions to development.
