Istanbul: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Division, conducted a series of bilateral parliamentary meetings with leaders and delegates from the parliaments of Niger, Bangladesh, Eswatini, Gabon, and Singapore, as well as with representatives from the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie. These discussions took place alongside the 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), with members of Bahrain's parliamentary delegation in attendance.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Musallam provided an overview of the Iranian attacks against Bahrain, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, and Jordan. He highlighted United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, endorsed by 136 countries, and United Nations Human Rights Council Resolution 38, which was adopted unanimously, both denouncing the attacks.
Al Musallam stressed the necessity of parliamentary collaboration to confront these challenges, advocating for unified positions to denounce assaults on civilian infrastructure. He called on parliaments globally to take a resolute stand against such violations, which he described as threats to international law and global peace.
Reaffirming Bahrain's commitment to fostering peace and security, Al Musallam highlighted the importance of joint international efforts, especially within parliamentary settings. The discussions also saw parliamentary representatives commend Bahrain's role in promoting peace, coexistence, and regional stability, underlining the need for ongoing coordination to tackle regional and global issues.
