Manama: The General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) held a ceremony to mark the council's silver jubilee, commemorated on August 22 under the theme "Twenty Five Years at the Heart of the Reform Project." The event celebrated the council's contributions over the past 25 years in advancing Bahraini women's roles in national development.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the ceremony was attended by Lulwa Saleh Al Awadhi, Secretary General of the SCW, along with members of the General Secretariat. Al Awadhi conveyed greetings and congratulations from Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the SCW, to the council's staff. She praised their contributions throughout the council's journey and emphasized the importance of building on its achievements.
Al Awadhi highlighted the anniversary as a reflection of the progress made in Bahraini women's participation in national development, supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. This progress is evident through the legislative and institutional frameworks established during His Majesty's comprehensive development process.
She noted that over the past 25 years, there have been significant advances in planning, coordination, and partnerships supporting Bahraini women. This progress has been accompanied by broader national participation and increased recognition of Bahrain's experience at regional and international forums.
The silver jubilee celebration coincides with preparations for Bahrain Women's Day and the "Year of Isa Al Kabeer," which commemorates the late Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, the Ruler of Bahrain and its Dependencies, the founder of the modern state, and a leader in Bahrain's modern institutional history.
