SCIA Highlights Royal Patronage and Commitment to Religious Freedoms

Manama: The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) convened its 28th regular session of the fifth term, presided over by Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, President of the Council. The meeting extended congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the royal family, the government, the people of Bahrain, and the Islamic nation on the occasion of the Islamic New Year 1447 AH.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Council praised His Majesty the King's dedication to enhancing Gulf solidarity, promoting cooperation, and rejecting policies of escalation and conflict. This dedication aids in strengthening global ties and contributes to peace and stability on both regional and global scales. The Council reiterated Bahrain's commitment to the principles of diplomacy and mutual understanding as vital components for security, cooperation, and regional integration.

The Council acknowledged His Majesty the King's sponsorship of religious events, particularly the Ashoora commemoration, highlighting Bahrain's leadership in preserving freedoms, especially the freedom to practice religious rites. The Council appreciated the government's efforts, led by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in collaboration with community organizations, to ensure the smooth conduct and success of religious seasons.

The Council remarked that Bahrain's secure and respectful religious environment reflects societal values of tolerance and coexistence. It urged Ashoora participants to maintain the sanctity and humanitarian nature of the rites, avoiding any exploitation or politicization. Moreover, the Council congratulated Bahraini pilgrims on their safe return from Hajj, commending the royal care and efforts of various committees and campaigns involved in their pilgrimage.

The successful organization of this year's Hajj season was also noted, with appreciation for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's efforts under the leadership of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud in serving pilgrims.

Further discussions during the Council session included the review of a report by the Sharia Opinion Committee and the examination of memoranda from the Council's General Secretariat. These involved the implementation of specific programs and activities, including advancements in Quranic studies and modern methods for printing the Holy Quran. The session concluded with the handling of incoming correspondence and requests, taking necessary actions as required.
