NCSC Participates in Arab Council of Cybersecurity Ministers’ Executive Bureau Meeting

Manama: Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, CEO of the National Cybersecurity Centre (NCSC), participated remotely in the second Executive Office meeting of the Arab Cybersecurity Ministers Council. The meeting focused on preparations for the second ordinary session of the Arab Council of Cybersecurity Ministers, scheduled to be hosted in Riyadh later this month. Discussions during the meeting resulted in decisions to enhance joint Arab action on cybersecurity.

According to Bahrain News Agency, one of the key outcomes of the meeting was the approval of the draft Arab Cybersecurity Strategy. This strategy aims to establish a safe and reliable cyberspace within the Arab region, thereby promoting growth and prosperity opportunities for the countries involved. Additionally, the meeting approved mechanisms that allow international organisations and similar entities to participate as observers, and it endorsed the Council's membership in leading global cybersecurity organisations to strengthen the Arab presence in international forums.

The meeting also endorsed the proposed agenda for the Council's second ordinary session, ensuring it addresses both regional and global developments in the cybersecurity sector. The Arab Council of Cybersecurity Ministers, which includes Arab ministers responsible for cybersecurity, operates under the Arab League following summit-level approval of its charter. Its responsibilities include setting public policies, developing strategies and priorities for joint Arab action in cybersecurity, and reviewing developments in security, economic, developmental, and legislative areas. The Council is also tasked with approving joint Arab plans to implement its endorsed policies and strategies.
