LMRA Holds First Board Meeting Following Reformation

Manama: The Board of Directors of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) held its first meeting following its reformation, chaired by Yusuf bin Abdulhussain Khalaf, and Minister of Legal Affairs and Acting Minister of Labour. Nibras Mohamed Ali Taleb, LMRA CEO, was present.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the board members underscored their commitment to strengthening the Authority's role in developing a dynamic and competitive labour market that keeps pace with economic developments. They highlighted the importance of aligning LMRA's initiatives with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030, the Government Programme, and the National Labour Market Plan 2023-2026, while continuing to coordinate closely with partner institutions and stakeholders to enhance efficiency and sustainability.

The board elected Sahar Rashid Al Mannai, Chief Executive Officer of the Social Insurance Organisation, as Deputy Chairperson, and approved the establishment of the Audit Committee. Members were also briefed by Talib on LMRA's performance during the first nine months of 2025. He noted that the Authority continues to implement strategic measures aimed at achieving a balance between effective governance and sustainable development, while reinforcing its role as a key enabler of a well-regulated labour market that safeguards rights and promotes employment opportunities for citizens as the preferred workforce.

The board praised Bahrain's success in maintaining Tier 1 status in the US Department of State's Trafficking in Persons Report for the eighth consecutive year, an achievement that reflects the Kingdom's sustained commitment to combating human trafficking through an integrated system of protection, partnership, and accountability. Members commended LMRA's close cooperation with the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons (NCCTIPs) and other government entities in supporting these national efforts.
