Manama: Nibras Mohammed Talib, CEO of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) and Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons, received Elizabeth Litchfield, the Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy to the Kingdom of Bahrain. The meeting focused on the strategic ties between Bahrain and the United States across multiple sectors.
According to Bahrain News Agency, both parties commended the shared commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation frameworks, which contribute to mutual interests and reflect the solid partnership between the two countries. During the meeting, the LMRA CEO outlined the key efforts and initiatives undertaken by Bahrain to develop its legislative and procedural framework. These efforts aim to improve the work environment, protect the rights of all parties, and enhance the system to combat human trafficking in collaboration with international organizations.
The LMRA CEO highlighted Bahrain's achievement of a Tier-1 ranking in the US Department of State's Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report for the eighth consecutive year. He noted that this accomplishment renews international confidence in Bahrain and reflects its leading position in the field of human trafficking prevention.
In response, Litchfield congratulated the LMRA CEO on this achievement and praised Bahrain's tangible progress in protecting workers' rights and combating human trafficking. She emphasized that Bahrain's continued Tier 1 status for eight consecutive years demonstrates a firm commitment to upholding justice and preserving human dignity. Litchfield also reiterated her country's commitment to enhancing cooperation with Bahrain through the exchange of expertise to achieve shared goals in this area.
