Legal Affairs Minister Commends Bahrain’s Tier 1 Status in US Trafficking Report

Manama: Yusuf bin Abdulhussain Khalaf, Minister of Legal Affairs and Acting Minister of Labour, commended Bahrain's achievement securing Tier 1 status in the United States Department of State's Trafficking in Persons Report for the eighth consecutive year.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister stated that this accomplishment reflects the Kingdom's commitment to protecting human rights and combating human trafficking under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Khalaf emphasised Bahrain's ongoing efforts to advance its legislative framework in line with international labour standards to prevent all forms of exploitation and strengthen mechanisms for human rights protection.

He praised the joint efforts of national institutions in applying international best practices, reinforcing Bahrain's position as a model in addressing humanitarian issues. The minister also commended the Ministry of Interior, led by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, for its role in building a comprehensive security framework supporting anti-trafficking measures.

Khalaf highlighted the contribution of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, in promoting Bahrain's human rights achievements on an international level. He also acknowledged the efforts of the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf, the Supreme Judicial Council, the Public Prosecution, and the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) in implementing integrated measures consistent with national legislation.
