Egypt and Trkiye Affirm Commitment to Strengthening Strategic Partnership and Regional Cooperation

Ankara: Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, emphasized the deep-rooted relationship between Egypt and Trkiye, underscoring their joint efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Abdelatty made this statement during a joint press conference in Ankara with Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Trkiye. He highlighted the comprehensive consultations held with his Turkish counterpart, which covered numerous bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest.

Dr. Abdelatty mentioned that the leadership of both nations prioritizes the enhancement of bilateral cooperation. He referred to the establishment of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, co-chaired by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi of Egypt and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Trkiye. The Council held its inaugural session in Ankara on September 4, with Cairo set to host the second session soon.

He expressed condolences to the Turkish government and citizens for the victims of a recent military plane crash, offering prayers for the deceased and wishes for a swift recovery for the injured.

Dr. Abdelatty's visit to Ankara, his third to Trkiye, coincides with the centennial celebration of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He highlighted that this long-standing relationship fosters deeper understanding and expanded collaboration on regional and international matters.

During the visit, the Egyptian Foreign Minister presented a replica of the statue of Pharaoh King Amenhotep VI to Turkey, intended for display in Ankara.

Dr. Abdelatty also noted that the first meeting of the Joint Planning Group between the two nations focused on political, economic, and investment cooperation. This meeting aimed at enhancing mutual interests and exploring new avenues for collaboration.
