Manama: The United Arab Emirates: strongly condemned the Iranian attack targeting the Saudi tanker SIDR while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, which resulted in the deaths of a number of crew members.
According to Bahrain News Agency, in a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the attack represented a grave threat to the security and safety of international navigation and a dangerous escalation aimed at undermining the security and stability of one of the world's most vital waterways.
The UAE expressed its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures aimed at safeguarding the security and safety of Saudi vessels and national interests and ensuring freedom of navigation in regional and international waters.
The ministry stressed that the attack constitutes a flagrant violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which underscored the importance of protecting freedom of navigation and rejected attacks on commercial vessels or the obstruction of international maritime routes.
The ministry said targeting commercial shipping or using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool of economic pressure or blackmail is unacceptable and poses a direct threat to regional stability, global energy security, and the flow of international trade.
