East hidd: As part of the fourth phase of the national "Forever Green" campaign, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, in partnership with the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NAID), has completed landscaping works along the main road of East Hidd Housing Project. The project, supported by the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait, reflects ongoing national efforts to expand green spaces and promote environmental sustainability across the Kingdom.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the initiative saw the planting of 96 royal poinciana trees and 900 bougainvillea shrubs, in line with the national target of planting 3.6 million trees by 2035. Greening public spaces, including those in housing developments, is a key element of the ministry's wider plans to integrate environmental priorities into urban planning.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning highlighted that afforestation is a cornerstone of its urban development strategy, aimed at striking a balance between modern infrastructure and environmental preservation. These efforts contribute to Bahrain's long-term sustainability goals and its pledge to reach net-zero emissions by 2060.
NAID praised the active support of all participating organisations, underlining the importance of shared responsibility in advancing green development and fostering more sustainable cities.
The Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait expressed pride in backing the project, affirming its commitment to social responsibility and to supporting initiatives that promote community wellbeing and environmental stewardship.
The "Forever Green" campaign continues to gain momentum, with the fifth phase set to launch in October as part of a comprehensive national strategy to enhance afforestation across Bahrain.
