UAE and Ireland Discuss Economic and Tourism Cooperation Opportunities


Dublin: Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism of the United Arab Emirates and Chairman of Investopia, engaged in two bilateral meetings with key Irish officials to explore enhancing economic and tourism cooperation between the UAE and Ireland. The discussions involved Darragh O’Brien, Minister for Climate, Environment, Energy and Transport of the Republic of Ireland, and Paul Keeley, Director of Regional Development at Ireland’s National Tourism Development Authority.



According to Bahrain News Agency, the meetings took place during the Investopia-Dublin Dialogues, an event that convened senior officials, business leaders, and investors from both nations. The UAE delegation included Mohammed Al Shamsi, Ambassador of the UAE to Ireland, and Mohammed Al Hawi, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Investment of the UAE.



Al Marri emphasized the UAE’s commitment to an open economic policy that fosters international partnerships. He highlighted the significance of the meetings in strengthening economic and tourism coordination, and expanding collaboration between government entities and business communities in both countries. This collaboration aims to bolster joint investments, enhance air connectivity, and promote tourism exchange.



In discussions with the Irish Minister for Climate, Environment, Energy and Transport, opportunities were identified to enhance cooperation in sustainable energy, infrastructure, and transport. The dialogue also included an exchange of expertise in the circular economy and policies to expedite the transition to a green economy, aligning with the sustainability goals of both nations.



The meeting with the Director of Regional Development at Ireland’s National Tourism Development Authority focused on advancing tourism cooperation. Both parties exchanged insights on destination development, regional tourism growth, and strategies for planning tourism routes and building sustainable tourism brands. These efforts aim to promote mutual tourism objectives and support the tourism targets of both countries.
