Manama: The 19th edition of the Spring of Culture Festival continues until the end of February, offering a diverse lineup of cultural events and performances.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Cultural Hall recently hosted musical performances, including "Breeze of Tarantella," a collaboration with the Italian Embassy that highlighted Italy's rich musical heritage, particularly from the Puglia region. The event was a testament to the festival's commitment to celebrating global cultures through music.
The National Museum of Bahrain, in partnership with the French Embassy, presented a concert by artist Kid Francescoli. The performance uniquely combined Middle Eastern influences with contemporary music, providing an eclectic auditory experience for attendees.
The German Embassy contributed with a piano performance titled "Pianotainment," featuring pianists Stepan Weh and Marcel Dorn. Known for their fusion of humor and musical skill, the duo captivated audiences with their unique approach to piano music.
In Riffa, the Dar Al Riffa Al Sagheera band celebrated Bahrain's rich heritage by performing traditional Bahraini arts such as Al Majilsi and Al Ashouri. Additionally, the National Museum hosted an interactive tour focusing on architecture and culture.
Upcoming highlights of the festival include "Photos A La Chair," an art and community project by Camille Zakharia and Ali Karimi, scheduled for February 7. This event will feature a public photography session across various locations. On February 8, the Qalali Folk band will present Fajari music at Dar Al Muharraq, followed by performances from Dar Bin Harban band on February 10 and 17, showcasing traditional Bahraini music genres.
Al Jasra Crafts Centre will offer a traditional Cypriot embroidery workshop on February 10 and 11 at the House of Basket Weaving, further highlighting the festival's diverse offerings.
The festival is organized by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), Beyon Al Dana Amphitheatre, and the Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research. Collaborators include Al Riwaq Art Space, Albareh Art Space, Art Concept Gallery, Folk Art Space, La Fontaine Centre for Contemporary Art, and the Rashid bin Khalifa Art Foundation. Strategic sponsorship is provided by the Economic Development Board, with gold sponsorship from Bahrain Credit and Tamkeen, and silver sponsorship from the National Bank of Bahrain and Aluminium Bahrain (Alba). Embassies from the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Cyprus, and the Philippines also participate in the program.
