Manama: Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh met with Isa Al Shaiji, Chairman of the Bahrain Journalists Association (BJA), and the Association's board members. The meeting was held to celebrate the formation of the Association's new board and the recent issuance of the Press and Digital Media Law.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Chairman Al Saleh congratulated the board and highlighted that the new law was the result of joint discussions aimed at aligning with developments in the media sector. He acknowledged the Association's 25-year history of supporting national journalism, training media professionals, and collaborating with media institutions to promote Bahraini identity and national values. Al Saleh also praised the Association's cultural and training programs and expressed his wishes for the new board's success in achieving further progress.
The Shura Chairman emphasized the significant role played by the BJA in promoting freedom of opinion and expression, highlighting national achievements, and supporting the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. These directives are essential for the Kingdom of Bahrain's progress, backed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Al Saleh noted that Bahraini journalism receives strong support from His Majesty the King and will remain active, influential, and responsible.
Chairman Al Shaiji and the board members expressed their appreciation for the Shura Council's role in reviewing national legislation. They commended the robust support the Press and Digital Media Law received during its discussion in the Council. They also valued the opportunity given to the BJA and media institutions to share their views on media-related laws and emphasized their commitment to continuing cooperation in support of national interests and the mission of Bahraini journalism.
