Manama: Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, welcomed Dr. Hanan Hassan Balkhy, Regional Director of the World Health Organisation (WHO) for the Eastern Mediterranean, to discuss the future of healthcare collaboration between Bahrain and the WHO.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting was attended by Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hasan, Bahrain's Minister of Health, along with senior healthcare officials and chief executives from Bahrain's health sectors. During the meeting, Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah emphasized Bahrain's commitment to advancing an integrated healthcare model under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The focus is on quality, sustainability, and governance in healthcare.
The SCH Chairman highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships with international organizations, particularly the WHO. These partnerships aim to ensure high-quality, efficient healthcare services, introduce cutting-edge medical treatments, and strengthen the national healthcare system. The collaboration with WHO is seen as crucial for the ongoing development of Bahrain's healthcare infrastructure.
The Minister of Health noted that the visit signifies the shared dedication of Bahrain and the WHO to enhancing coordination in various medical fields. The visit also reflects the confidence international organizations, especially the WHO, have in Bahrain's healthcare achievements. Dr. Hanan Hassan Balkhy praised Bahrain's advanced healthcare achievements, which demonstrate a commitment to achieving health for all through resilient and innovative systems. During her visit, Dr. Balkhy also reviewed the work of the Bahrain Council for Health Studies and Specialties and the Health Strategic Planning and Training Committee.
