Saudi Launches ‘Qari’e’ Platform to Aid Visually Impaired

Riyadh: The Saudi Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, in collaboration with the Authority for the Care of People with Disabilities (APD), has introduced the "Qari'e" digital platform. This initiative is designed to provide visually impaired individuals, including those who are blind, with secure and straightforward access to book content from both local and international sources.

According to Bahrain News Agency, this initiative is part of Saudi Arabia's expansive efforts to foster cultural and intellectual inclusion, ensuring that all segments of society have equal access to knowledge. It further demonstrates the Kingdom's dedication to the Marrakesh Treaty, which aims to improve access to published materials for those with visual disabilities or difficulties in reading printed texts.

The "Qari'e" platform offers improved access to cultural and intellectual resources through features that support screen readers, text magnifiers, and other assistive technologies. It provides high-quality content in various languages, offers comprehensive technical support, and includes free subscriptions to digital libraries globally and locally.
