Abu Dhabi: Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, stated that the aggression on Gaza has left "a stain on humanity," adding that the war aimed to destroy the Strip and empty it of its population. He highlighted that Egypt has confronted this and will not take part in it.
According to Bahrain News Agency, President Sisi spoke at the Extraordinary Arab Summit in the New Administrative Capital, emphasising that Egypt only knows peace based on truth and justice. He expressed his appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain for his efforts during his presidency of the Arab Summit. He also extended greetings to Arab and Islamic nations on the occasion of Ramadhan.
President Sisi said that Egypt always stands with truth and justice, regardless of the challenges. He noted that the summit comes at a critical time, as the region faces grave challenges that threaten regional security and stability and undermine the foundations of Arab national security.
President Sisi emphasised that the aggression on Gaza will remain in the memory of humanity as an example of spreading hatred and undermining human values. He expressed sorrow over the suffering of Gaza's children and women who have lost their families and been displaced. He noted that Egypt remains committed to defending the Palestinian people's rights to their land and dignity.
President Sisi highlighted that the war on Gaza aimed to destroy all aspects of life and forcibly displace its population. He reiterated that Egypt, based on its historic stance, firmly rejects the forced displacement of Palestinians or any actions targeting their existence.
President Sisi lauded the Palestinian people's resilience and determination in defending their rights and land. He emphasised that Egypt, which has championed peace for nearly five decades, remains committed to a just and rightful peace, in line with its obligations under the 1979 peace treaty, which upholds sovereignty and territorial integrity.
President Sisi also noted that Egypt, in cooperation with the State of Qatar and the United States, has been working towards a ceasefire in Gaza. He highlighted the pivotal role played by US President Donald Trump in facilitating de-escalation efforts.
President Sisi announced that Egypt has established an administrative committee composed of Palestinians to manage Gaza temporarily and is providing training for Palestinian security personnel. He added that Egypt is implementing a comprehensive reconstruction plan for Gaza without displacing its residents. The plan includes immediate relief efforts and infrastructure rebuilding. He urged Arab leaders to adopt the plan during the summit and mobilise regional and international support for it.
President Sisi called for a comprehensive and just resolution to the Palestinian issue and urged the launch of a serious and effective political process to reach a lasting settlement in line with international legitimacy. He reiterated the necessity of establishing an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
President Sisi highlighted that there can be no genuine peace in the region without resolving the Palestinian issue. He cited the 1979 Egypt-Israel peace treaty as an example of turning conflict into lasting peace. He noted that a just and comprehensive solution is the only path to stability in the region.
