LMRA Conducts Extensive Inspection Campaigns Resulting in Worker Detentions and Deportations

Manama: The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) announced the implementation of 1,137 inspection campaigns and visits from February 2 to 8, leading to the detention of 30 violating and irregular workers and the deportation of 124 violators.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the inspection campaigns and visits resulted in the identification of several violations related to the provisions of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority and the Residency Laws in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Legal measures were taken regarding the observed violations.

The LMRA highlighted that 1,125 inspection visits were conducted across various shops in all governorates, along with 12 joint inspection campaigns. These included 8 campaigns in the Capital Governorate, 2 in the Muharraq Governorate, 1 in the Northern Governorate, and 1 in the Southern Governorate.

The Ministry of Interior, represented by the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) and the respective Police Directorate of each Governorate, participated in the campaigns. The authority emphasized ongoing coordination with government agencies to intensify inspection campaigns throughout the Kingdom, aiming to address violations that could impact the labor market's stability and competitiveness or harm the Kingdom's economic and social security.

The LMRA reiterated its call for community support in combating illegal labor practices. They encouraged reporting violations through the electronic form on their website, www.lmra.gov.bh, by calling the call center at 17506055, or via the government's Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul).
