Manama: Kuwait’s Ministry of Defence announced that air defence systems detected 20 hostile ballistic missiles and nine drones within the country’s airspace over the past 24 hours.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Defence Ministry spokesperson Colonel Saud Al Atwan said that 13 missiles were intercepted and destroyed, while seven fell outside the threat zone without posing any danger.
He added that six drones were destroyed, while two targeted a fuel tank at Kuwait International Airport, causing a fire that specialised teams are currently handling, with no reported casualties. One drone also fell outside the threat zone.
Al Atwan noted that a National Guard task force destroyed one unmanned aerial vehicle and five small drones within its area of responsibility, reflecting coordination among military entities.
He affirmed that the armed forces continue to carry out their duties with high readiness, noting that personnel remain prepared to safeguard Kuwait’s security and stability.
