Kuwait concludes a contract to buy Turkish drones

Kuwait announced a contract with Turkey to purchase Bayraktar TB2 drones, through direct negotiations between the governments of the two countries.

Today, Tuesday, Turkish media quoted the Kuwaiti army and the Government Communication Center in Kuwait in two separate statements confirming the conclusion of the deal, while the Turkish company "Baykar", which manufactures drones, confirmed the completion of this deal.

The Kuwaiti army stated, in its statement, that "the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense concluded a contract with the Turkish side to supply the Turkish Bayraktar TB2 aircraft at a value of (367) million dollars, through direct negotiation between the governments of the two countries, to enhance the defense capabilities of the Kuwaiti army."

The Kuwaiti army indicated in its statement that it conducted a test on this type of aircraft in Kuwait in July 2019, achieving a record flight time of 27 hours and 3 minutes without interruption, under difficult climatic conditions such as high temperature, winds and sand storms.

For its part, the Kuwaiti Government Communication Center confirmed, in its statement, that "the cabinet took note of the contract, and the cabinet listened, in its session held on June 7, to an explanation about the deal."

It stressed that "the deal was carried out in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations and with the approval of the regulatory authorities in the country, and the value of this deal amounted to 367 million dollars."

For its part, the Turkish company "Baykar" confirmed, through its account documented on Twitter, what was published by the Kuwaiti Governmental Communication Center that it had successfully completed the contracting process with Kuwait regarding the Bayraktar drones.
