Manama: General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology (MCICT), chaired the latest MCICT meeting.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting included participation from prominent figures such as the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, the Minister of Sustainable Development, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, the CEO of the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), and the Coordinator from the Prime Minister's Office. The focus was on advancing government ICT services in alignment with Bahrain's strategic objectives for digital transformation under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The committee approved the minutes from the previous meeting and reviewed the implementation of past decisions. Key agenda items included enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of government services, with an emphasis on digital development projects across various sectors. This initiative aims to improve institutional performance and service quality, supporting Bahrain's vision of a fully integrated digital society.
Discussions also covered ongoing technological projects and digital initiatives, focusing on timely implementation, efficiency, and quality. Notably, the "Citizen Lifecycle" initiative via the MyGov application was highlighted for providing integrated e-services across all life stages, from birth registration and education to healthcare, employment, housing, and retirement. The Minister praised this initiative as a significant step in streamlining eGovernment services and enhancing citizen-centric digital platforms.
The committee also addressed the online healthcare project, which aims to expand virtual medical services, reduce pressure on primary health centers, and facilitate remote consultations. This initiative is seen as a crucial component of the digital healthcare transformation, improving service quality and efficiency.
Additionally, plans to digitize public services and enhance interconnectivity between systems were reviewed to support Bahrain's national direction towards performance improvement and an enhanced user experience. General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah commended Bahrain's internationally recognized eGovernment programs for their citizen-focused design and scope. He emphasized the importance of keeping beneficiaries informed of available e-services and expressed gratitude to committee members for their coordination and dedication in advancing the Kingdom's digital transformation, reinforcing Bahrain's position as a regional ICT hub.
