iGA Wins Prestigious Smart City Initiative Award 2025 for MyGov App

Manama: The Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) has been honored with the 'Smart City Initiative Award 2025' at the Bahrain Smart Cities Summit for its innovative MyGov mobile app. This accolade was presented during the opening ceremony of the 8th edition of the Bahrain Smart Cities Summit 2025, which took place under the patronage of Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister. The summit, themed 'Building the Future: Smart Cities, Sustainable Growth', was held from April 15-16.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of iGA, expressed his pride in receiving this recognition and extended his gratitude to the summit organizers and award committee. He highlighted that the award is a testament to the robust support and focus provided by the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, towards digital transformation and the integration of modern technologies. These efforts have played a crucial role in promoting development, enhancing innovation, and fostering creativity within government operations.

Al Qaed emphasized that the MyGov application, launched in the first quarter of 2025 under the directives of the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, is a key strategic digital initiative. It was implemented in response to public feedback submitted to the Authority. The app provides users with a unified access experience to a wide array of government services through the advanced eKey 2.0 system. He also acknowledged the continued support of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology.

He noted that this award serves as a motivation for the iGA team to maintain their commitment to delivering high-quality services.

During the summit, Lulwa Sami, Director of Communications and Marketing at iGA, participated in a panel discussion titled 'Smart City Hot Seat: Live Expert Panel on Urban Innovation.' She presented the Authority's digital projects that have driven urban innovation, including the National Portal (bahrain.bh) and mobile applications like the Sehati app and MyGov app. Sami also emphasized the use of open data to create more tailored eServices that cater to public needs.

Lulwa Sami stressed the importance of strategic and interactive communication, as well as continuous public engagement through various channels like the Tawasul system, which facilitates two-way communication to better understand public feedback and opinions.

In conjunction with the summit, iGA is also participating in the Smart Cities 2025 exhibition, where it is showcasing its latest services and applications, including the MyGov app, eKey 2.0, new features on bahrain.bh, and new services launched via the Benayat system, inviting the public to explore these innovations.
