Doha: The State of Qatar has firmly denounced recent statements made by the Houthi military spokesperson, which accused the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of enforcing a blockade on the Yemeni people and threatened the imposition of a maritime blockade. According to Bahrain News Agency, the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement urging the international community to take action by implementing United Nations Security Council resolutions. Specifically, the ministry highlighted the importance of Resolution 2216, which pertains to Yemen, and Resolution 2722, concerning rights and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea. The ministry underscored that freedom of navigation through international waterways is a fundamental principle enshrined in international law and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. Additionally, Qatar expressed its unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia, supporting all measures the Kingdom takes to protect its sovereignty and security. Qatar emphasized that the security of Sau di Arabia is intertwined with the security of Qatar and the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
