Manama: Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan, Bahrain's Minister of Health, chaired a remote session of the National Committee to Combat Smoking and All Types and Products of Tobacco, which included representatives from various ministries and official bodies. The session focused on advancing national strategies to combat tobacco use and enhance public awareness about its detrimental effects on health.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the committee delved into a range of agenda items essential to its mission. A significant emphasis was placed on bolstering national efforts against tobacco consumption and reducing smoking rates. Dr. Hassan praised community partnerships and strategic plans aimed at curbing the prevalence of smoking within the community.
The committee reviewed the periodic report for the first quarter of 2025, which included discussions on a proposed awareness campaign targeting adolescents and youth. Additionally, the committee highlighted the need for expanding smoking cessation clinics to provide more support for those seeking to quit smoking.
