Beijing: China's Changqing oilfield, the country's largest oil and gas production base, has produced over 700 billion cubic metres of natural gas to date, an output equivalent to that of a major oilfield with an annual capacity of 50 million tonnes for 11 years.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Lan Yi, head of gas field development at Changqing, attributed the achievement to abundant resources and technological advancements that enabled the development of 14 low pressure, low permeability fields such as Jingbian, Yulin, and Sulige, while maintaining an annual output exceeding 50 billion cubic metres for three consecutive years.
Changqing accounts for one quarter of China's total natural gas output and plays a vital role in meeting the industrial and residential energy needs of more than 50 large and medium-sized cities.
