Bahraini Youth Set to Represent the Kingdom at Expo 2025 Osaka

Manama: A group of young Bahrainis are preparing to represent the Kingdom at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, one of the world’s largest global events. They will serve at the Kingdom of Bahrain Pavilion, which is themed “Connecting Seas.”

According to Bahrain News Agency, the training programme is organised by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) in collaboration with key national entities, including the Ministry of Sustainable Development, the Economic Development Board (EDB), the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE), the National Communication Centre (NCC), the Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies (MBMA), and the Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT), as well as Bapco Upstream and the Japanese Embassy in Bahrain.

BACA emphasized that the programme aims to prepare participants to represent Bahrain with professionalism, cultural awareness, and national pride. Upon completion, the team will be equipped to engage with international audiences, manage official responsibilities, and showcase Bahrain’s heritage and future vision when the Expo opens in April.

The training includes lectures, workshops, and field visits, covering topics such as Bahrain’s history and heritage, diplomatic protocol, media and communication, Japanese culture and traditions, and essential soft skills. A key focus is Bahrain’s maritime heritage, aligning with the Pavilion’s architectural and thematic concept, which explores the cultural impact of the sea, the sustainability of pearl diving, and its role in the economy and entrepreneurship.

The Kingdom of Bahrain Pavilion is overseen by Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of BACA, who serves as General Commissioner of the Pavilion. Designed by Lebanese-French architect Lina Ghotmeh and her Paris-based studio, the Pavilion spans 995 square metres, rising 13.7 metres across four levels, offering a scenic sea view. Its interior and exhibition design are being developed by Bahrain-based Shepherd Studio.

Expo 2025 Osaka is themed “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” with three sub-themes: Saving Lives, Empowering Lives, and Connecting Lives. The Bahrain Pavilion will be located in the Empowering Lives district, joining contributions from approximately 150 countries. The event is expected to attract over 28 million visitors, featuring various activities aimed at fostering global knowledge exchange and collaboration for the betterment of humanity. Each pavilion will have the opportunity to designate a national day to celebrate its culture and values during the Expo.
