Bahrain Non-Oil Exports Reach BD322 Million in May 2025

Manama: Bahrain's non-oil exports of national origin reached BD322 million in May, as detailed in the May 2025 Foreign Trade report released by the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA). This report provides insights into the Trade Balance, Imports, national origin Exports, and Re-exports.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the report highlights a 7% increase in the value of non-oil imports, totaling BD498 million in May 2025, compared to BD466 million in May 2024. The top 10 countries accounted for 71% of the total import value. China led the imports to Bahrain with BD75 million (15%), followed by the United Arab Emirates at BD48 million (10%) and Australia with BD43 million (9%).

Parts for aircraft engines emerged as the top imported product, valued at BD42 million (8.4%). Other aluminum oxide followed with BD41 million (8.2%), while four-wheel drives were the third most imported product at BD21 million (4%).

The report also noted a 2% rise in non-oil exports of national origin, reaching BD322 million in May 2025, up from BD316 million in May 2024. The top 10 exporting countries represented 71% of the export value. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was the largest recipient of Bahrain's non-oil exports, with BD67 million (21%). The United States came second with BD33 million (10%), and the United Arab Emirates was third with BD27 million (8%).

Unwrought aluminum alloys topped the list of exported products in May 2025, with a value of BD94 million (29%). Agglomerated iron ores and concentrates alloyed followed at BD42 million (13%), and aluminum wire not alloyed was third with BD17 million (5%).

Additionally, the value of non-oil re-exports rose by 18% to BD60 million in May 2025, compared to BD51 million in the same month of 2024. The top 10 countries for re-exports accounted for 85% of the total re-export value. The United Arab Emirates led with BD24 million (40%), followed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at BD16 million (27%) and Singapore at BD3 million (5%).

Smartphones were the leading re-exported product from Bahrain, valued at BD6.4 million (10.7%). Four-wheel drives followed closely at BD6.3 million (10.5%), and private cars were third at BD5 million (8%).

The trade balance, representing the difference between exports and imports, showed a deficit of BD116 million in May 2025, compared to BD99 million in May 2024.
