Ambassador to France Participates in Paris Defence and Strategy Forum

Paris: Essam Abdulaziz Al Jassim, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the French Republic, participated in the Paris Defence and Strategy Forum (PDSF), organised by the ‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬°cole de Guerre under the French Ministry of the Armed Forces, in partnership with the Royal College of Defence Studies of the United Kingdom. The forum was attended by senior political and military officials and international experts.

According to Bahrain News Agency, in his remarks, the Ambassador reaffirmed the Kingdom's support for continued international efforts to safeguard maritime security and ensure the free flow of global trade, in light of ongoing Iranian attacks against the Kingdom of Bahrain, GCC countries, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. He referred to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which strongly condemned and called for the immediate cessation of all attacks carried out by Iran against GCC countries and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, as well as the immediate and unconditional halt to any provocations or threats against neighbouring states. The resolution reaffirmed the inherent right of those countries to self-defence.

The Ambassador further noted Bahrain's announcement of its accession to the joint statement issued by a number of countries regarding the Strait of Hormuz. This statement condemned attacks targeting commercial vessels and civilian infrastructure and stressed the need for the immediate cessation of all threats and practices that undermine freedom of navigation.

He underlined that this position reflects Bahrain's firm commitment to the principles of international law and freedom of navigation, and its support for collective efforts to ensure the security of vital maritime corridors and the stability of global energy markets. In this context, the Kingdom continues to play a constructive role in supporting international efforts aimed at safeguarding freedom of navigation, based on its belief in the importance of regional stability in achieving sustainable economic development and promoting international peace and security.

The Ambassador highlighted the joint defence cooperation agreement signed in February 2026 during His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's official visit to France, describing it as a model of constructive partnership that strengthens security, peace, and joint capabilities.
