Manama: Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, received the supervisory team of the Stars of Safety training programme, which is organised by the Child Protection in Cyberspace Unit at the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security, in cooperation with the Young Trader Foundation. Minister Tawfiqi emphasized the significance of the Digital Safety Stars training programme as a crucial step in enhancing digital safety among children and adolescents.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the programme aims to build a digitally safe generation by fostering both theoretical awareness and active participation among children. It empowers them to understand digital challenges and communicate solutions effectively in peer-to-peer language. This innovative initiative trains children to become ambassadors of digital awareness within their communities.
Minister Tawfiqi awarded certificates to the participants, expressing pride in their demonstrated high level of competence. She praised their awareness presentations for showcasing a clear understanding of digital safety topics and their ability to engage audiences effectively.
The programme involved children aged 12 to 16, preparing them to deliver awareness lectures to peers about cyberspace risks. It included practical workshops and interactive lectures on key topics, as well as training in public speaking, persuasive communication, and interactive presentation skills.
The Stars of Safety training programme embodies the concept of peer-to-peer education, aiming to establish a national network of digital safety ambassadors. This initiative seeks to strengthen community resilience against online threats, particularly amongst younger demographics.
