Manama: The Ministry of Works and the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture confirmed their readiness to address rainwater accumulation across Bahrain's governorates, ensuring uninterrupted traffic flow and proper drainage system operations.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Ministry of Works stated that it has implemented regular maintenance measures, including cleaning drainage inlets, servicing pumping stations, and clearing open channels in all areas. It continues to empty and clean rainwater collection tanks throughout the year to prevent blockages caused by debris, soil, and agricultural waste, which could reduce drainage efficiency during rainfall.
The ministry also urged residents to refrain from opening sewage inspection covers at all times, especially during rainfall, warning that this could lead to street flooding, traffic disruptions, and damage to the sewage network, posing health and environmental risks.
The Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture emphasised its ongoing coordination with relevant authorities, including the Capital Municipality, municipal councils, and emergency teams, to manage rainwater accumulation in residential areas and internal roads. It has mobilised specialised teams, water tankers, and pumps as part of its rain response plan.
The ministry also continues infrastructure maintenance efforts, including removing vegetation from drainage channels and addressing areas prone to water pooling, in collaboration with municipal councils.
