Manama: The Ministry of Works and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning announced the completion of repairs for 71 housing units affected by the Iranian attacks, in implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the order of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for the government to bear the cost of restoring affected homes.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the announcement was made during a field visit by Ibrahim bin Hassan Al Hawaj, Minister of Works, and Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning. This marks the first batch of properties damaged by the Iranian attacks to be repaired by the government. The housing units in this batch include 30 residences in Al Hidd Housing City, 19 in Sitra, and 22 in other areas, with all necessary technical and engineering work completed.
Minister Al Hawaj stated that the Ministry of Works, in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, conducted the repair work in phases, prioritizing the most damaged housing units. He emphasized that all structure and services-related work was implemented in accordance with applied technical standards to ensure the units are ready for occupancy.
Minister Al Rumaihi highlighted that coordination among relevant entities is ongoing to ensure smooth implementation of the action plan, including damage assessment, repair works, and solutions suitable for each case, along with compensation procedures. She added that efforts are continuing to complete the remaining phases quickly, enabling affected families to return to their homes as soon as possible.
The Housing Minister noted that work is progressing to complete repairs to the remaining damaged homes while maintaining quality and efficiency to ensure timely completion. Compensation for damage to home contents has been processed through a mechanism that included the documentation and assessment of damage, ensuring a comprehensive approach that goes beyond structural repairs and supports the full restoration of living conditions.
The Housing Ministry temporarily relocated families whose housing units sustained severe damage to fully equipped apartments in Salman City until repairs are completed. Homes will be handed over to families once they are fully ready.
