Busan: The USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier strike group has arrived at a naval base in the Republic of Korea. South Korea's Navy reported that the group, which includes the guided-missile cruiser USS Princeton and the destroyer USS Sterett, docked at the naval base in Busan, located approximately 320 kilometres southeast of Seoul.
According to Bahrain News Agency, this marks the first visit by a United States aircraft carrier to South Korea in eight months, following the arrival of the USS Theodore Roosevelt in June last year. The USS Carl Vinson is anticipated to participate in a trilateral naval exercise involving South Korea, the US, and Japan later this month in waters near the Korean Peninsula after its departure from Busan.
The South Korean Navy emphasized the significance of the carrier's arrival, stating that it aims to demonstrate the strong joint defence posture between South Korea and the US in response to continued North Korean threats.
