Washington: Marco Rubio, United States Secretary of State, met with Giorgos Gerapetritis, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, who is currently visiting Washington. The two sides discussed means to advance the strategic partnership between their countries, particularly in the fields of energy and trade, as well as supporting European defence and enhancing regional security. The meeting also addressed joint efforts to tackle illegal migration.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the discussions between Rubio and Gerapetritis aimed at bolstering cooperation in energy and trade sectors, emphasizing the importance of these areas in strengthening the ties between the United States and Greece. Both parties highlighted the need to support European defence initiatives and enhance regional security to maintain stability in the region.
The two officials also tackled the issue of illegal migration, which remains a significant concern for both nations. They explored potential collaborative measures to manage migration challenges effectively and ensure the safety and well-being of affected individuals.
