University of Bahrain holds graduation ceremony

The 24th batch of University of Bahrain (UoB) graduates have today received their degrees, during a ceremony held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Education Minister, Higher Education Council (HEC) Board of Trustees Chairman, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma attended the ceremony which was held at the UoB Sakhir Campus.

Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Juma paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for their care and support to the educational system in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

He hailed HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s patronage of the ceremony, during which more than 11,000 graduates (2017-2022 batches) graduated and stepped into the real world.

He commended the university’s efforts to incorporate new academic programmes, keep abreast of global changes, meet the labour market requirements and national priorities, benefit from international expertise and obtain accreditation.

The minister also congratulated the graduates and wished them success in the future life and commended the efforts of the UoB management, academic and administrative staff.

UoB President Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al Mudhahki also addressed the ceremony, hailing the care and support of HM the King and the directives of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

She highlighted the university’s 2023-2026 strategy to continue enhancing academic programmes to keep abreas of scientific and technical stries and bolster its standing in the region and the world.

A video highlighting the university’s beginnings and steady academic development was shown during the graduation ceremony.

The minister and the UoB president then honoured outstanding students and presented them with special awards marked with the names of Arab creators and scientists. They also rewarded postgraduate graduates.

The university will hold 20 graduation ceremonies from January 19 to January 29, on the basis of two ceremonies per day, one in the morning and the other in the evening.

A today of 369 graduates were honoured in the opening ceremony, 74 of whom were distinguished graduates, and 295 graduates at the postgraduate level.
