Geneva: The Ministry of Economy and Tourism of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office and the Moroccan Industrial and Commercial Property Office. These agreements aim to enhance cooperation in the development of intellectual property (IP) in the UAE by aligning with international best practices.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the MoUs were signed in the presence of Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism of the UAE, during the UAE delegation's participation in the Sixty-Sixth Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) in Geneva.
The agreements focus on strategic areas such as digital transformation, talent development, and improved coordination in industrial property and patent registration. They also aim to leverage advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, to enhance patent search and classification processes.
Minister bin Touq emphasized the UAE's ongoing commitment to developing a comprehensive IP ecosystem and fostering international partnerships. He stated that collaboration with Spain and Morocco is a significant step towards exchanging technical knowledge, streamlining registration procedures, and adopting modern compliance standards.
