Trump Predicts Imminent Gaza Ceasefire Amid Ongoing Negotiations

Washington: Donald Trump, President of the United States, expressed optimism that a ceasefire agreement in Gaza could be reached within the coming week.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Trump made these remarks at the White House during a meeting with the foreign ministers of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda. He described the situation in Gaza as catastrophic and called on nations to provide food aid to the region.

Trump noted that intensive negotiations were ongoing with involved parties, mediated by Qatar and Egypt. Despite these efforts, Palestinian sources indicated that Hamas had not yet received concrete proposals to end the conflict, which has continued since October 2023.

The President's comments come in the aftermath of the collapse of a previous ceasefire in March 2025, which disintegrated amid mutual accusations of violations.
