Manama: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned that Gaza's health sector is facing severe operational challenges due to sustained military activity over the past six months.
According to Bahrain News Agency, a statement posted on UNRWA's official Facebook page said medical facilities have suffered heavy damage, while safe movement for medical teams remains restricted. Shortages of medical supplies and fuel required to run hospitals and clinics are also compounding the crisis.
The statement also cited ongoing widespread demolitions in the northern West Bank since the start of the Israeli military operation on January 21, further complicating the humanitarian situation.
Health facilities in Gaza are functioning below capacity due to critical shortages of medicines, supplies, and fuel, while hospitals are overwhelmed by large numbers of injured and ill patients. UNRWA urged the international community to provide immediate assistance to prevent the total collapse of Gaza's healthcare system.
