Abu Dhabi: Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, engaged in discussions with senior officials in the United Arab Emirates to explore collaboration in the transport, communications, infrastructure, and logistics sectors.
According to Bahrain News Agency, during his official visit to the UAE, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla reviewed opportunities to enhance strategic integration, exchange expertise, and support joint investment projects in line with shared development objectives. He emphasized the strong historical ties between Bahrain and the UAE, describing them as a model of strategic and developmental partnership under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.
The minister underscored Bahrain's commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty the King and with support from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to further enhance strategic cooperation with the UAE in economic, developmental, and technological fields.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla met with Suhail bin Mohamed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, to discuss cooperation in transport, adoption of smart mobility solutions, and port management practices to support sustainable development goals. He also met with Talal Belhoul Al Falasi, Chairman of the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority, focusing on collaboration in ICT, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity, as well as training and technical knowledge exchange to enhance digital infrastructure.
In a meeting with Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority, discussions centered on joint efforts in civil aviation, air policy coordination, and regional air connectivity, based on safety, security, and sustainability standards. Further discussions with Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority, covered cooperation in transport, smart and sustainable mobility projects, and infrastructure development through public-private partnerships.
The visit concluded with a tour of DP World, where Dr. Shaikh Abdulla was received by Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, and Abdulla bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director of DP World GCC. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in transport, logistics, and sustainable digital infrastructure.
