Manama: Fatima bint Jaafar Al Sairafi, Minister of Tourism, met with Iris Van der Veken, Executive Director and Secretary General of the Watches and Jewellery Initiative (WJI 2030). The meeting was attended by Noora Jamsheer, CEO of the Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT).
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting highlighted the role of global initiatives such as WJI 2030 in promoting the cultural and economic value of natural Bahraini pearls and supporting sustainability in related industries. It also touched on the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority's efforts to raise awareness of pearls, support their sustainability, and promote their global standing as part of the Kingdom of Bahrain's national identity.
Iris Van der Veken commended Bahrain's efforts to maintain the globally distinguished status of Bahraini pearls.
