Supreme Council for Environment Announces End of Crab Fishing Ban

Manama: The Supreme Council for Environment has declared the end of the crab fishing ban in the territorial waters of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The ban, which had been in place for two months, will be lifted starting Thursday, May 15.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the General Directorate of Marine Resources highlighted that the prohibition on catching, trading, or selling crabs was part of Bahrain's initiatives to protect marine species and ensure their sustainability. The ban aimed to safeguard crabs during their breeding and spawning periods, thereby increasing their availability in local markets during the fishing season.

The directorate also acknowledged the efforts of partner entities in monitoring and enforcing the ban, and praised the fishing sector for its cooperation and adherence to the restrictions.
