Speakers, Shura Chairman Meet Heads of Delegations at APA Economic and Sustainable Development Committee Meeting

Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, and Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of Shura Council, met with the heads of delegations attending the Standing Committees on Economic and Sustainable Development of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA). The meeting brought together 73 members from 17 countries.

According to Bahrain News Agency, MP Ahmed Sabah Al Saloom, APA Vice President and Chairman of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee at the Council of Representatives, also participated in the discussions. Al Musallam and Al Saleh affirmed the Kingdom's strong commitment to deepening ties with Asian nations, highlighting the role of parliamentary diplomacy in fostering regional cooperation and sustainable development. They emphasized Bahrain's focus on building constructive parliamentary partnerships across Asia.

Al Musallam and Al Saleh also stressed the Kingdom's keenness to maintaining long-term dialogue with Asian legislatures, promoting the exchange of parliamentary expertise, and aligning perspectives on regional and global challenges. They noted that these efforts reflect Bahrain's vision under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to strengthen the Kingdom's role as an active and influential participant in regional and international parliamentary forums.

The meeting highlighted the legislature's openness to learning from Asian parliamentary practices and collaborating on priority issues, including climate action, environmental protection, economic growth, and sustainable development goals. It also underscored the importance of exchanging legislative insights to enhance parliamentary performance and support the development of flexible, forward-looking laws capable of addressing contemporary challenges.
