Manama: Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Minister of Finance and National Economy of Bahrain, engaged in discussions with Senator Ian Gorst, the Minister for External Relations of the Bailiwick of Jersey, during the latter's visit to Bahrain.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations, particularly in financial and economic sectors. Shaikh Salman emphasized the historical cooperation between Bahrain and Jersey, noting their mutual commitment to elevating their partnership to fulfill shared goals.
A crucial outcome of the meeting was the signing of an agreement aimed at eliminating double taxation and preventing tax evasion and avoidance. Shaikh Salman signed on behalf of Bahrain, while Senator Gorst represented Jersey.
The Finance Minister stated that this agreement represents a significant step in strengthening economic, investment, and trade relations between the two nations. He pointed out the role such agreements play in fostering economic progress and creating attractive investment opportunities that align with development objectives.
The double taxation agreement is expected to further economic cooperation between Bahrain and Jersey, advancing their partnership to new heights to realize mutual aspirations.
