Somalia, Djibouti Sign Defence Cooperation Agreement

Mogadishu: The Federal Republic of Somalia and the Republic of Djibouti have signed a Status of Forces Agreement (SoFA) to enhance defence and security cooperation between the two nations.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the agreement establishes the legal and operational framework for the expansion of Djiboutian troops deployed in Somalia as part of broader regional stabilisation efforts. This move aims to strengthen the security landscape in the region, addressing mutual concerns and fostering collaboration between the two countries.

The SoFA was signed by Ahmed Moallin Fiqi, Minister of Defence of Somalia, and Ali Hassan Bahdoon, Acting Minister of Defence of Djibouti. This development marks a significant step in the bilateral relations between Somalia and Djibouti, focusing on collective security measures and mutual support in defence strategies.
