Social Development Minister Highlights Bahrain’s Commitment on World Autism Awareness Day

Manama: Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development and Chairman of the High Committee for the Care of People with Disabilities, has emphasized Bahrain's significant focus on individuals with autism spectrum disorder. This commitment aligns with the country's humanitarian approach to ensure their active integration into society and participation in national development.

According to Bahrain News Agency, marking World Autism Awareness Day, which is observed annually on April 2, Minister Al Alawi highlighted the theme "Autism and Humanity - Every Life Has Value". He stated that the day serves as an opportunity to renew societal and institutional commitments to supporting individuals with autism. It also aims to showcase their abilities, raise awareness about inclusive environments, and ensure equal opportunities across all sectors.

Minister Al Alawi pointed out that the High Committee for the Care of People with Disabilities is instrumental in coordinating national efforts. The committee works on unifying initiatives by developing supportive policies, strengthening partnerships with various entities, and contributing to an integrated system of specialized services for individuals with autism. This system aims to enhance their quality of life and empower them in all aspects.

He further mentioned that the Ministry, in collaboration with relevant authorities, is continuously developing rehabilitation and awareness programs for people with autism and their families. These initiatives focus on improving social inclusion and underscore that investing in individuals is crucial for building inclusive and sustainable communities.
