Manama: Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, emphasised that the Bahrain Journalists Association (BJA)'s celebration of its silver jubilee underscores the significant value that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa places on the journalism and media profession. His Majesty has created an enabling environment for its advancement, allowing it to contribute meaningfully to the promotion of democratic principles and the support of national development efforts.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Saleh noted that the silver jubilee marks a significant milestone in the BJA's journey, marked by journalistic achievements that have shaped and advanced media in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The chairman commended the BJA's belief in the important role of journalism and media in supporting democracy and informing the public on national, regional, and international issues. He noted the association's professional and institutional efforts to build a responsible media environment that serves the nation and its citizens in line with the Kingdom's goals for progress and prosperity.
He highlighted the BJA's efforts over the past 25 years to support the journalism and media profession by strengthening the role of journalists in conveying truth, addressing key national issues, and highlighting Bahrain's achievements across various domains. He also noted the association's consistent commitment to professional and ethical standards, responsible media freedom, and ongoing support for journalists through skills development and adaptation to changes in the media sector, while upholding credibility and transparency.
Al Saleh emphasised that Bahraini journalism has long been, and continues to be, a cornerstone of national dialogue, opening space for constructive discussion on political, economic, and social development issues. He said this contributes to amplifying Bahrain's voice regionally and internationally, a responsibility in which the BJA plays a key role. He congratulated all Bahraini journalists and media professionals on the occasion of the association's silver jubilee.
