Shura Chairman Condemns Iranian Attack on ADNOC Tankers

Manama: Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, condemned the Iranian terrorist attack targeting two ADNOC oil tankers while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as a serious threat to regional security and stability and maritime navigation.

According to Bahrain News Agency, in a cable to Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates, Al Saleh said the attack constitutes a repeated violation of international law, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, and relevant International Maritime Organisation resolutions.

Al Saleh reiterated the Kingdom of Bahrain's full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and its support for measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and vital interests. He stressed that the UAE's security and stability are integral to the security and stability of Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

He called on the UN Security Council to take firm measures to ensure an immediate halt to Iranian attacks and safeguard freedom of navigation and commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and other international waterways.
