SCW Engages in Dialogue on Boosting Women Entrepreneurs in Land Transport

Manama: Najla Mohammed Al Shirawi, a member of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), took part in a panel discussion titled "Advancing the Role of Women Entrepreneurs in Land Transport", organized by the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications in collaboration with the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI).

According to Bahrain News Agency, the event gathered officials and representatives from both public and private sectors, including women entrepreneurs and stakeholders from the transport and logistics sectors. During the session, Al Shirawi presented a working paper emphasizing SCW's dedication to enhancing the economic participation of Bahraini women. She detailed various initiatives under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, aimed at supporting women in different sectors and improving their access to leadership and decision-making roles.

Al Shirawi highlighted several SCW initiatives such as the Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Award for the Advancement of Bahraini Women, the Imtiaz initiative for young Bahraini women entrepreneurs, and the Riyadat Bahraini Women Development Portfolio for Commercial Activity, which offers concessional financing for SMEs. She also brought attention to SCW's Women in Information and Communication Technology Committee, which promotes women's involvement in the digital economy sectors.

Additionally, Al Shirawi discussed policies for empowering women in emerging economic sectors and explored future opportunities for enhancing their presence in the transport and logistics industries. She stressed the significance of encouraging young women to study transport and logistics by raising awareness about career opportunities, providing guidance and counseling services, and facilitating connections with successful female role models in the field.

Al Shirawi expressed optimism about the future of Bahraini women in the transport sector, supported by their proven capabilities and the expansion of policies promoting equal opportunities. She affirmed that investing in women's talent will boost the sector's competitiveness and contribute to the goals of Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
