Manama: The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) convened its 29th regular session of the fifth term, led by SCIA President Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa. The council acknowledged the unwavering support from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa towards mosques and Islamic endowments throughout Bahrain, emphasizing efforts in construction, maintenance, and allocation of lands for worship.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the council also expressed appreciation for the government's support under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. This backing is seen as a testament to Bahrain's dedication to fostering Islamic values and social unity. The council further recognized the contributions of Bahraini philanthropists who fund endowment and mosque projects.
The session focused on reviewing strategic plans aimed at improving mosque services and promoting awareness about charitable contributions for public welfare. On a regional front, the council issued a strong condemnation of the continuous Israeli violations against Islamic holy sites and international laws, as well as the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza. It criticized the blockade and starvation tactics affecting civilians and urged for prompt international intervention to facilitate aid, cease hostilities, and uphold Palestinian rights.
Additionally, the council expressed support for Saudi Arabia's efforts to gain international acknowledgment of an independent Palestinian state. The SCIA also evaluated the success of a recent Qur'anic interpretation programme at the Al Fateh Islamic Center, which saw widespread participation and the creation of over 200 recorded sessions, underscoring the initiative's significance and hopeful continuity.
The session concluded with an assessment of incoming correspondence and associated resolutions.
