Labour Ministry Reports 99.96% Compliance with Midday Work Ban Among Establishments

Manama: Aqeel AbuHussain, Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Relations at the Ministry of Labour, reported that the ministry has achieved a 99.96% compliance rate with the midday work ban. The ban, effective from June 15 to September 15, prohibits outdoor work from 12 noon to 4 p.m. and is designed to protect workers from extreme heat.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the high compliance rate reflects the effective cooperation between the ministry and employers in promoting safe working conditions. This commitment also underscores Bahrain's dedication to international labour standards and the welfare of its workers.

Only six violations were recorded during more than 17,000 inspection visits, impacting a total of 12 workers. This minimal number of violations indicates the growing awareness among employers and workers about the importance of safeguarding health during the peak summer months.

The assistant undersecretary emphasized that the ministry is actively raising awareness through digital platforms about the dangers of heat stress and sun exposure. This initiative is part of a broader focus on occupational health and safety. AbuHussain further stated that Bahrain remains committed to upholding best practices in workplace safety, especially during the summer when temperatures and humidity levels are at their highest.
